This feeling is among the most gut-wrenching anxiety symptoms. Sometimes you feel like your chest cannot spread enough to accommodate the air you need for your body, and sometimes you feel like you have a pressure pad on your face.
What you need to remember if this happens to you is that it’s just a feeling caused by exaggerated nerve impulses. These symptoms will not or cannot hurt you. You will not stop breathing , you will not faint , you will not suffocate.
As with all anxiety symptoms, the more you concentrate on them and give them credibility, you will feel them more. Try some physical work if you can. During a panic attack , you can experience what is called hyperventilation when breathing becomes fast and shallow. Therefore, the blood oxygen takes too much, which causes many unpleasant symptoms of panic.
